Kat Stratford
Kat Stratford was presented to the audience as an angry outsider, quite a feminist, and seems quite smart, but alone. She seems to think highly of women (and her own) opinions, and doesn’t seem to feel anyone else understands her. She also seems to kill the mood and the ‘good’ vibe of the other teens. She expresses her opinion and just speaks what’s on her mind.
At the start of the film Kat is represented as quite smart, but is kicked out of her English class as she expresses her opinions without thinking. She doesn’t seem to care what other people think of her opinions or her physical appearance. When Patrick first starts trying to get with her she isn’t interested, but slowly she begins to get interested in him. We then start to see her softside, and how she does want to fit in, but doesn't want to change herself.
At the prom she realises that Patrick was getting paid to go out with her. She runs off into the night. The following week she comes to school and reads a poem she wrote about how much she hates him, but loves him. She thens runs out of class crying.
Patrick then apologizes to her and them make up and become a couple again.
